Hello, I’m Nick.
The purpose of this blog is very simple: I just want to spread knowledge about things that I learn, after I learn them. In this way it gives me a fresh perspective that isn’t so convoluted, and allows me to explain it exactly how I understand since it’s still fresh in my memory. Obviously you can’t expect me to discuss everything here since I don’t have the time to learn absolutely everything, even if I’d like to.
Here’s a little bit about me.
I’m a current master’s student that’s doing research in optimization, specifically (right now) with the application of drug design in mind. Before going to grad school I knew nothing about what it takes to make a drug, or even really how it works. It’s probably to no surprise that I still don’t understand it completely, since there is so much biology and chemistry that, if you really get into it, can go over your head extremely quickly. But that doesn’t stop me from trying.
I’ve learned about a variety of optimization and machine learning techniques throughout my schooling and I wish to further this knowledge on my own. I’ve always been more of a self-taught kind of person since it’s just more fun to me that way. Sometimes I can find myself searching something up, and getting lost in a wikipedia scrawl through various pages on a topic that is only vaguely what I even wanted in the first place. Perhaps this is just curiosity getting the better of me, but at least the internet won’t kill me (hidden proverb intended).
Hopefully the things that I write about are able to help you. If they’re not, then just email me (shown on my github page) and I’ll read through to see where I went wrong. Just remember that I’m only human, and am still learning along the way just like you.
